During the design phase, the actual detailed design is developed. Complete documentation including drawings and specifications are produced. The specification details the recommended components to be used in the installation, as well as guidelines by which the system must be installed. All major system components are specified by a manufacturer and model number, as well as an alternate(s) manufacturer and model number (where applicable), or the statement “or equal”. Drawings are produced to detail the wiring of the components into a system, as well as locations of equipment, mounting details, wireways and other devices. Throughout the design process, we coordinate with other design team members/trades as necessary to ensure a successful end result.
Prior to final release of the design documents, we typically issue progress versions at 50% and 90% for review and comment by the Owner/staff. After approval of the “progress” documents, the final documents issued will enable contracting firms to competitively bid on the implementation of the new system. K2 Audio will then assist with the preparation of biddable documents, and contractor selection if requested.
